Nick Hittle of Troop 50 working on his Eagle Project with Troop 50 and friends over at Pioneer Park in Stayton, Oregon. Nick identified several trees in the park and we posted 16 signposts under his management to identify those trees in Pioneer Park.
The troop began helping the Stayton Area Rotary last year with their annual ducky derby. It has been a great joint venture and a lot of fun for both clubs to come together for this awesome event. Enjoy the video below showing some of the highlights.
Troop 50 attended camp Baldwin this summer. All of the reports are it was a huge success. Our new younger scouts each completed at least 3 merit badges, although there were a few cuts, bruises (caused by those crazy baldwin horses), and a little dirt our new Scouts left camp with smiles from ear to ear (one even left with a mustache). The older Scouts lead with no fear and reached each goal set before camp. 🙂
Troop 50 over the weekend of July 12,th and 13th helped out at the Stayton Relay For Life ~ this was a total of 15 hours of community service! The guys helped with the flag ceremony, cleaned the track (all night), emptied trash bins (all night), and even served breakfast Sat. morning. Parents should be very proud of the troop, our young men behaved and preformed their jobs beyond expectations.
The Troop was invited this year to participate in the Stayton Old Time 4th of July Fun Run and Walk. This is the Fun Runs 29th year but it was the first year the Stayton Road Runner’s have asked for the troops help and we were happy to do it.
The Fun Run has been Sponsored by the Stayton Road Runner Club, and this year’s events included a 10-kilometer run and a 3-kilometer walk/run.
Both runs and walk circled the NORPAC plant on city streets. The 10-kilometer then extended out toward Sublimity and back on city streets.
After this years event the Road Runners have asked the troop to make this a annual event with them. Now this one event will be a great opurtunity for our troop to raise funds and contribute to the July 4th events held here in Stayton.
A big thanks goes out to the Stayton Road Runner Club for this special invite.
